This week's microfiction is a 70-word story about the dangers of wanting more time.

Many of my micro stories are inspired by prompts provided by THE FICTION DEALER Substack. I highly recommend checking it out if you’re interested in reading more microfics — or writing your own!

The Time Thief

Immortality was Lady Connolly’s greatest wish. Morning to night, she studied chronomancy, conversing with clocks until they shared their knowledge.

“Time is a funny thing,” they warned. “Only steal a second here and there.”

Lady Connolly planned to steal more than seconds.

Standing inside a circle of crushed crystals, she chanted for hours until time slowed to one infinite moment.

She would have celebrated—had she been able to move.

Writing without a paywall is important to me, but writing is work. If you enjoyed this post or found it helpful, I would be honored if you would consider donating.
