This week's microfiction is an 80-word story about achieving your dreams.

Many (but not all) of my micro stories are inspired by prompts provided by THE FICTION DEALER Substack. I highly recommend checking it out if you’re interested in reading more microfics — or writing your own!

One Giant Leap for Gummykind

Everyone said it couldn’t be done—a sentient five-pound gummy bear couldn’t become an astronaut. “You’re too short, sweetness,” my adoptive mother told me, trying to be kind while ruining my dreams. “You’re only 12 inches tall. You’d have to grow 50 inches.”

A lesser gummy would have given up; I formed a plan, hiring two neighborhood boys for the small price of one bite each. And after an hour, I emerged a new bear.

Gummies, you see, can stretch.

Writing without a paywall is important to me, but writing is work. If you enjoyed this post or found it helpful, I would be honored if you would consider donating.
