This week's microfiction is a 60-word story about a magic trick.
Many of my micro stories are inspired by prompts provided by THE FICTION DEALER Substack. I highly recommend checking it out if you’re interested in reading more microfics — or writing your own!
Pick a Card
“Pick a card.”
“When you told me you could do magic, I pictured something more… impressive.”
“This isn’t an ordinary set of cards. Pick one.”
“Fine. … Very funny. I guess every card has this on it?”
“No, look— they’re all different. So, what does your future hold?”
“It says you’re going to kill me.”
“Well, the cards don’t lie.”
Writing without a paywall is important to me, but writing is work. If you enjoyed this post or found it helpful, I would be honored if you would consider donating.
