This week's microfiction is a 90-word story about grief.
Many of my micro stories are inspired by prompts provided by THE FICTION DEALER Substack. I highly recommend checking it out if you’re interested in reading more microfics — or writing your own!
After Life
Suzy watched it rain outside her bedroom window and wondered what it meant to die.
Does everything go black?
Do you sail to heaven, or fall to hell?
Are you reborn on Earth, or part of the stars? Or will you walk forever through unseen lands and never know rest?
Her grandpa had believed in heaven, so maybe heaven was where his soul had gone.
Suzy’s mother called her name. “We need to leave in five minutes!”
How funny, Suzy thought, to care about punctuality at a time like this.
Writing without a paywall is important to me, but writing is work. If you enjoyed this post or found it helpful, I would be honored if you would consider donating.
