This week's microfiction is a 60-word story about a fresh start.

Many of my micro stories are inspired by prompts provided by THE FICTION DEALER Substack. I highly recommend checking it out if you’re interested in reading more microfics — or writing your own!

A House is Not a Home

The apartment exterior was dingy at best. Lacey, gripping a cat carrier, eyed the mildew on the siding, heard the rats scurrying across the ground.

Eric’s house—it had never felt like her home—was spacious and pristine.

Now she was on her own.

Surveying the new space, she smiled at her cat with love in her eyes. “We’re home.”

Writing without a paywall is important to me, but writing is work. If you enjoyed this post or found it helpful, I would be honored if you would consider donating.
