This week's microfiction is an 80-word story about defeating the Big Bad.

Many of my micro stories are inspired by prompts provided by THE FICTION DEALER Substack. I highly recommend checking it out if you’re interested in reading more microfics — or writing your own!

The Final Fight

I’ve traversed a world of monsters—faced perils by land, sea, and sky—to reach this fight. My opponent launches fireballs, but I deftly dodge the danger, using my superior jumping skills to leap over his head. Before he can find me, I run for the switch that will send him into the lava pit bubbling below.

“Michael!”

I ignore the voice. I’m inches away…

“Michael! Stop playing video games and get downstairs THIS INSTANT!”

Sigh. Press pause.

“Coming, Mom!”

Writing without a paywall is important to me, but writing is work. If you enjoyed this post or found it helpful, I would be honored if you would consider donating.
