This week's microfiction is a 100-word story about a little boy and a vase.

Many of my micro stories are inspired by prompts provided by THE FICTION DEALER Substack. I highly recommend checking it out if you’re interested in reading more microfics — or writing your own!

Mom's Favorite Vase

Tommy hadn’t meant to do it. Yes, he was running through the house, and sure, his parents had warned him not to do that like a million times, but he hadn’t meant to bump into the end table. Hadn’t meant for the elaborate sculptural vase to crash to the ground.

What was he going to do? Blame it on Tilly, their schnauzer? He couldn’t bring himself to do that.

Before he could decide whether to confess or run, his mom entered the living room and saw the pieces on the floor.

“Oh, thank goodness!” she smiled. “I hated that vase.”

Writing without a paywall is important to me, but writing is work. If you enjoyed this post or found it helpful, I would be honored if you would consider donating.
