This week's microfiction is a 100-word story about true wealth.
Investments
“I’m telling you, you gotta diversify your portfolio. It’s all about the investments, baby brother. Looking out for the future.” Greg gave a self-satisfied grin.
John’s brother was staying for his semi-annual weekend visit, flying in from whichever vacation home he stayed at these days. John loved his brother, but could do without his endless talk of wealth and how to multiply it.
The living room clock struck noon, rescuing John.
“Gotta go,” he said, standing quickly. “I take Bobby to the park every Saturday.” He smiled at the thought of his eight-year-old son. “That’s my investment for the future.”
Writing without a paywall is important to me, but writing is work. If you enjoyed this post or found it helpful, I would be honored if you would consider donating.
