This week's microfiction is a 100-word story about hearing the call.

Come Find Me

Come find me, a voice speaks from the reeds. I hear it when I take my moonlit strolls by the lake. The first time it called to me, I searched among the reeds and found nothing. Since then, I try to ignore the ghostly words.

Come find me, it whispers. Too quiet to tell if the voice belongs to a man or woman, but it’s a whisper of seduction. It promises wonder and adventure.

Come find me, it calls to me, and to me alone. How lovely it is to be wanted.

It’s becoming harder to resist…

…Come find me…

Writing without a paywall is important to me, but writing is work. If you enjoyed this post or found it helpful, I would be honored if you would consider donating.
