This week's microfiction is a 100-word story about a fearsome pirate up against an unbeatable foe.
Many of my micro stories are inspired by prompts provided by THE FICTION DEALER Substack. I highly recommend checking it out if you’re interested in reading more microfics — or writing your own!
A Pirate's Surrender
“Avast, ye matey,” Tommy snarled, brandishing his cutlass against a sturdy foe.
“Tommy!” someone shouted. He ignored the voice; couldn’t they see this was important? But when he looked again at his opponent, they were a thick tree.
“Get inside now,” the angry voice boomed.
Tommy jumped and gripped his weapon harder, but the sword was now a stick. Ignore it, his mind whispered. You’re a pirate, not a boy.
“If I have to say it again, you won’t be able to sit for a week!”
Tommy dropped his stick and ran inside. He was a boy, not a pirate.
Writing without a paywall is important to me, but writing is work. If you enjoyed this post or found it helpful, I would be honored if you would consider donating.
