Oooh, I'm feeling good! You know how last week I wrote about brainstorming and talked about a new story I was starting?
I just finished it! Three solid days of writing for 6,550 words.
Here's the premise: a maintenance android, working aboard a deep space construction vessel, uncovers an act of sabotage! When no one takes his discovery seriously, he decides to find the perpetrator himself. But someone out there doesn't want him looking around...
It's fun. Mostly sci-fi, with a mystery, and a dash of psychological thriller. It was important to me that I blend genres.
Also, I had a good time coming up with the cast. Here they are!
Hugo
The maintenance android protagonist. Hugo longs to be accepted by humans as more than a robot.
Qualia
A member of the Thalian species, Qualia is Hugo's direct supervisor...and his crush. Will they get together?
Lawrence
Lawrence is a surly engineering android who has nothing but contempt for humans. But does he hate them enough to sabotage their ship?
Captain Valentino
A human and the captain of the vessel, Valentino takes no shit. Can Hugo convince her that he's truly uncovered an act of sabotage?
Faron
The polite-but-aloof head engineer, also a human. He...okay, he doesn't have a lot going on right now. He's great for exposition, though! I'll fix him in revision.
I'm not much of a drawer, but I made a lil' doodle of Qualia on a napkin. Picture her pink, large, and floating in the air like a pink, large, alien jellyfish.

That's all!
