This week's microfiction is a 100-word story about things that creep in the night.

Many (but not all) of my micro stories are inspired by prompts provided by THE FICTION DEALER Substack. I highly recommend checking it out if you’re interested in reading more microfics — or writing your own!

Beware the Bog Bodies

Beware the bog bodies that arise under the new moon: mummified corpses seeking the company of the living, like you.

When the night skies darken—stay inside—blow out your light. Listen carefully: you can hear the squish, squish of something right outside your door.

Keep very still so they may pass you by.

For if you make a sound…a sneeze or a cough or a little cry, too…the bog bodies will soon surface, and they’ll get you.
